Often people say childhood friends are the best, for this reason or that. When I look at the ex-cadets in their middle ages bonding instantly with a long-lost friend from his/her time in Cadet College, I have to admit, I kind of see some truth in that. Perhaps the wonderful and often adventurous experiences of growing up together with a bunch of kids into the adulthood in a relatively closed environment of top quality public boarding schools are the most precious memories there can be.

Cadet Colleges are special institutions primarily constructed in accordance with the Public Schools of England. The goal is to pick presumably the best students from all corner of the country and train them to be brilliant in studies, skilled in leadership, and bearer of high morality along with physical toughness and endurance. There are currently 12 cadet colleges in Bangladesh, however, ECC (ex-cadets in Canada) has representatives from 10 cadet colleges.

আমার ছোট দুই মেয়ে অমি ও মিমি । ভীষণ দুষ্ট । অফিস থেকে ফিরলেই নানা বায়না। বাবা পিঠে চড়বো । বলো কি ? আমি তো আর আগের মতো নেইরে বাবা । বয়স হয়েছে এখন কি আর ও সব করতে পারি ? কথা নেই বার্তা নেই ঝুপ করে পিঠের ওপর উঠে পড়বে । তার ও আবার নাম দিয়েছে পিগি ব্যাক রাইড । স্কুল থেকেই এ সব শব্দ শেখা । ওদের জ্বালায় আমি অস্থির । মাঝে মাঝে আমার গায়ে চড়ে বলবে ; বাবা বাইরে চলো । মেঘ দেখবো । আমি জীবনে কারো পিঠে চড়ে মেঘ দেখিনি । তারা দেখবে । তাদের শখটা পূর্ণ হোক । আমি ওদের নিয়ে যাই- বাইরে । টরন্টোর আকাশ । অগাস্ট এ বিচিত্র রঙের মেঘ্ ভেসে বেড়াচ্ছে । নানান মেঘের ভেলায় তাদের মায়াবী চোখ পরশ বুলায় ।
